WORKSHOP FACILITATION

I run visible mending workshops for groups who want to learn repair skills in a hands-on, supportive setting.

I've been facilitating workshops for years - from small intimate groups in my studio to larger sessions for universities, festivals and community spaces. I teach Sashiko, Boro, darning, patching, and embroidery. Techniques that turn damage into design and celebrate the life a garment's already lived.

Sessions are hands-on from the start.

A bit of demonstration, then straight into practice. I bring fabric samples, threads, and tools for people to use, and I encourage people to bring their own items to work on.

You don't need to be "good at sewing" to attend. You just need to be willing to try, willing to make mistakes, and willing to ask questions when you're confused. I've taught complete beginners who've never threaded a needle and experienced sewists who want to add visible mending to their skill set.

Workshop Types

  • Sew Flow

Bring an item you own to repair or learn visible mending techniques in a hands-on, supportive setting. These sessions are fluid in approach - I teach ways to visibly mend by hand. Sashiko, Boro, darning, patching, and embroidery based on what people need to learn and what items they've brought to work on.

Great for organisations, universities, and community groups with larger groups of up to 12 people.

    From £175 upto 2 hours

  • Merch with Meaning

A drop-in festival workshop where participants learn visible mending techniques while creating something meaningful to take home. Each person receives a pre-printed festival emblem on denim or fabric, plus a simple stitching kit, and can sew it straight onto a garment or turn it into a patch to treasure later.

I run regular demonstrations throughout the session teaching Sashiko and Boro techniques so people can learn at their own pace. This format works brilliantly for festivals, community events, and larger gatherings where people want to drop in and out.

From £225 upto 2 hours / £400 full day plus materials costs

  • Worn Out Does Not Mean Worthless

A presentation about Lived-In Repairs and the importance of repair work, followed by a hands-on Sew Flow session. I share the story of how I built my repair practice, why pricing matters, and how repair work fits into a sustainable livelihood. Then we move straight into practice - learning visible mending techniques on items people have brought with them.

This format works well for universities, colleges, and organizations who want both the context and the practical skills in one session.

    From £300

Workshops are priced to reflect the full scope of work - not just the teaching time, but the preparation, materials, travel, and energy that goes into creating a worthwhile session.
